Going Green on Long Island
Expo Offers Information and Inspiration to Make a Change

April 17, 2008 - Brentwood, NY – The first and largest all-inclusive green gathering on Long Island will take place on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th, 2008 at Suffolk County Community College's Brentwood Campus. The 2-day event is designed to provide residents and business owners with the information they need to support a greener way of life here on Long Island.

Created as a springboard for education and motivation, the Green Living Expo LI will deliver valuable information for those with a desire to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and healthier life. The exhibition hall will be filled with more than 125 local, regional, and national exhibitors who provide products or services that support a greener lifestyle choice, including solar energy, healthy living, organic products, all-natural personal care, eco-travel, and more.

Dynamic speakers, selected for their passion and authority, will lead discussions on topics as varied as the environmental issues specifically impacting life on Long Island, alternative medicine and holistic health, and green law. Special guests include: U.S. Congressman Steve Israel, Town of Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone, and recording artist Jen Chapin.

Bravo's current Top Chef contender Nikki Cascone and Chris Palmer of Maxwell & Dunne's will take the stage and lead cooking demonstrations each day of the event, teaching attendees how to make tasty meals using organic food and produce. An entertainment lounge will feature performances by area musicians, including the much-anticipated acoustic sets from Push Play-the hottest new band emerging from the Long Island music scene. There is no additional fee required to attend the speaker forums, cooking demos, or the live music in the lounge. The Green Living Expo LI will also offer activities for kids, making it an event the whole family can enjoy.

The Green Living Expo LI will help raise awareness for many earth-friendly non-profit organizations, including the Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, and The North Shore Land Alliance.

The 2-day event will be held at Suffolk County Community College, Brentwood Campus, in the Sports & Exhibition Complex located at 101 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, NY. The Expo is open from 11 am - 6pm on Saturday, and 11am - 5 pm on Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, children 12 and under and students with valid ID are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at the event website or at the box office on event day.
