Korean Tea Ceremony Makes NYC Debut at Coffee & Tea Festival

April 7, 2008 – New York, NY – Premiered at the 2007 World Tea Expo in Atlanta, the Coffee and Tea Festival NYC is excited to bring the rarely seen Korean Tea Ceremony to tea aficionados of the greater New York area. The tea ceremony will be performed each day of the 2-day festival being held on April 12th and April 13th at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York, NY.

The Korean Tea Ceremony has had a long and distinct history, one that is deeply rooted in 2,000 years rich traditions, philosophy and practices of the Way of Tea, Korean style. As interests in teas continue to enjoy a dynamic rebirth world over, Korean teas and tea culture have remained virtually unknown to those outside of Asia. The Korean Tea Culture Foundation’s director and tea master, Yoon Hee Kim, will perform a special demonstration of the Korean Tea Ceremony each day of the 2-day Coffee and Tea Festival NYC. Teas served for the ceremony as well as tea sampling for the festival attendees will be provided by TeaClassics and Hancha Tea. Opportunity for questions and answers will follow the demonstration.

As seen on the Food Network hit show Unwrapped, the Coffee and Tea Festival celebrates its third year in the New York area. “The two day festival will be a celebration of everything related to coffee and tea,” said Event Producer, Lynda Calimano. The festival is open to the public and the trade and includes an international lineup of exhibitors providing samples of their best coffees and teas. Included among the featured exhibitors for the 2008 show: Tafu NY, ITO EN, Café La Paz, serendipiTea, micro-roaster Real Coffee Corp., Tay Tea, Nestle, Mighty Leaf, Sympatea, Ceylon Treasures, Harrisons & Crosfield, Chassom, and Tavalon. The event also offers two days of programming including classes/lectures/demos from well-known industry pros and pioneers.

In addition to being at tremendous exhibitor and sponsorship opportunity, and a delightful way for visitors to spend the day, the 3rd Annual Coffee and Tea Festival: NYC will help raise funds and awareness for Cup for Education, the official event charity. Cup for Education helps the poor and rural coffee communities of Central and Latin America build schools within their communities and provide the basic tools needed to educate the future generations of coffee farmers.

Goodie bags will distributed to the first 1000 attendees each day and include samples from Adagio Teas, Celestial Seasonings, Chopsticks Magazine, Bali’s Best Candies, Wholesome Sweetners, Teeccino Organic Coffee, SBS Teas, Omoma Coffee and others. Tickets are $20 for an all day pass that includes sampling as well as attendance at the classes/seminars/demos. For information and to purchase tickets, visit the event website
