Starfish Junction Student Interns Among Those
Honored By Long Island Business Leaders

BAY SHORE, NY. June 16, 2008 – Three student interns from Starfish Junction Productions will be honored this week for outstanding leadership in ceremonies sponsored by two professional business development groups headquartered on Long Island, the Direct Marketing Association of Long Island (www.dmali.org) and ExecuLeaders (www.execuleaders.org).

A.J. Sorbera, a student at Bryant University interning with Starfish Junction for the summer, will be the recipient of two outstanding leadership awards, one from The Direct Marketing Association of Long Island and the other from ExecuLeaders. “It was obvious from his first day with us that A.J. was a super-achiever,” said Andy Calimano, Owner of Starfish Junction, an event production company in Bay Shore, NY. “It was my great pleasure to nominate A.J. for these awards. He has a very bright future ahead of him,” added Calimano.

Mr. Sorbera will be the 2008 recipient of the Fred Bruno Scholarship sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association of Long Island. The scholarship, created to honor the memory of a local direct marketing legend, awards financial assistance to a college student nominated in recognition for outstanding achievements and leadership skills. Mr. Sorbera will also be honored by ExecuLeaders, an association dedicated to educating the business community in methods and techniques of sales, marketing and networking. Mr. Sorbera will receive the 2008 College Junior Leadership Award from ExecuLeaders.

Two John F. Kennedy High School (Merrick, NY) seniors, Alexandra Cuttitta and Rebecca Dreifuss, will be honored with the High School Junior Leadership Award from ExecuLeaders. Both were nominated by Andy Calimano of Starfish Junction. Ms. Cuttitta and Ms. Dreifuss interned with Starfish Junction as part of their high school’s Senior Experience Program. The Senior Experience Program places graduating seniors in a corporate environment for three weeks of business training and education. “I was sorry to see Becky and Alex leave us when the program ended,” said Mr. Calimano. “We were impressed by the maturity and accomplishments of these two young ladies”.

The Direct Marketing Association of Long Island award luncheon honoring A.J. Sorbera will be held on June 19, 2008 at the Holiday Inn in Plainview, NY. ExecuLeaders will present their awards to Mr. Sorbera, Ms. Cuttitta, and Ms. Dreifuss at a ceremony being held on June 18, 2008 at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage, NY.
