Bay Shore Fest Salutes Craft Beer
With First Beer Festival of Summer

BAY SHORE, NY. June 16, 2008 – Excitement builds as Long Islanders prepare for first craft beer festival of the summer. The South Shore Real Beer Festival will be held at The Nutty Irishman located at 60 E. Main Street in Bay Shore, NY on July 19th 2008. The event is sponsored by T.J. Finley’s, Long Island’s premiere beer bar, and will raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This is a 21+ event.

Now in its second year, the South Shore Real Beer Festival “promises to deliver another great lineup of craft beer” said Drew Dvorkin, owner of T.J. Finley’s, sponsor of the craft beer event. “All of the amazing craft breweries here on Long Island will be present at the fest, plus we’ll have some awesome craft beer from national, award-winning breweries,” Dvorkin added.

For 2007, the total U.S. craft beer industry annual dollar volume was $5.7 billion according to a recent report put out by the Brewers Association. This is a trend that has been strong and steady for the last few years. “Since 2004, dollar sales by craft brewers have increased 58 percent,” said Paul Gatza, Director of the Brewers Association. “The strength of this correlates with the American trend of buying local products and a preference for more flavorful foods and beers.”

Long Islanders will have the opportunity to sample more than 50 craft beers from more than 20 national breweries at the South Shore Real Beer Fest. Hamburgers and hotdogs will also be served at the event. The festival will offer special guest lectures from industry professionals covering topics as varied as the state of craft beer on Long Island and which foods pair best with various beer styles.

Both VIP and General Admission tickets are being sold for the event. VIP tickets are $50 each and entitle the ticket holder to an additional one-hour VIP session (2pm – 3pm) with the brewers who will be bringing some of their specialty brews just for VIPs, a stemmed goblet for the day’s beer tasting, and unlimited bbq food. General Admission tickets are $40 each and include beer sampling from 3pm-7pm, a souvenir tasting glass, and a coupon for one food item from the bbq grill. Designated driver tickets are also available. For more information about the event and to order tickets, visit the event website:
