Freaktoberfest At Bobbique

October 20, 2008 – Patchogue, NY – Eric Rifkin, award-winning chef and restaurateur announced last week that his restaurant, Bobbique, would team up with GreatBrewers.Com and the Shmaltz Brewing Company to host a freak show themed dinner and beer tasting event on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at 6:30pm. Bobbique is located at 70 West Main Street in Patchogue, NY.

Lager freaks and beer geeks will step right up and witness both the Shmaltz Brewing Company’s new line of Coney Island Craft Lagers™ and a selection of the Shmaltz Brewing Company’s signature beers paired with a 5-course tasting menu prepared by Chef Rifkin. The exhibition of rarities will include the flagship brew and main attraction, Coney Island Freaktoberfest, plus other sideshow attractions including the He'brew Genesis Ale, He'brew Rejewvenator, He'brew Lenny's RIPA, and the newly released Albino Python, a seasonal white lager brewed with spices.

“With Halloween just around the corner and the release of the Shmaltz Brewing Company’s Coney Island Lagers, I couldn’t think of a better time to host this event,” said Rifkin. “Of all the dinners we’ve hosted as part of our monthly brewmaster dinner series, this will definitely be the most entertaining. Attendees will enjoy great beer paired with great food and unique entertainment,” he added.

In the center ring, Chef Rifkin will be preparing a tasting menu including traditional matzo ball soup, crispy pumpkin ravioli with pulled pork, smoked shrimp caesar salad, a beef St. Louis and babyback rib sampler, and a red velvet cup cake will complete the menu. Each of Rifkin’s creations will be married with a beer from Shmaltz to deliver spot-on pairings and pure gastronomic amusement. The Sword Swallower steel hop lager will be offered with a variety of treats during the pre-event reception. The freak show amusements featuring Donnie “the human blockhead” Vomit will continue all night long and guests are encouraged to stay and be freakishly amazed.

Just like the freak show tents of yore, seating is limited and reservations are strongly recommended. The evening begins at 6:30 pm with a delicious lineup of hand-passed appetizers. Starting promptly at 7:00 pm, the lagers will be paired with a five-course tasting menu sure to showcase Chef Rifkin’s extraordinary talents.
