Green Living Expo Returns to Long Island April 25-26, 2009

April 9, 2009 - Brentwood, NY – Following the successful launch in April 2008, The Green Living Expo returns to Long Island on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th, 2009. The event will be held in the Health, Sports, and Recreation Center at the Brentwood Campus of Suffolk County Community College. The 2-day event is designed to provide residents and business owners with the information they need to support a greener way of life here on Long Island.

Created as a springboard for education and motivation, the Green Living Expo LI will deliver valuable information for those with a desire to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and healthier life. The exhibition hall will be filled with more than 100 local, regional, and national exhibitors who provide products or services that support a greener lifestyle choice, including solar energy, home care and maintenance, healthy living, organic products, all-natural personal care, green gifts, and more. New this year will be the addition of the Organic Food Pavilion where attendees can sample and purchase organic and locally made all-natural products and the Children's Activity Pavilion providing education about green living in a fun and interactive setting championed by the Long Island Children's Museum. Dynamic speakers, selected for their passion and authority, will lead discussions on topics as varied as the environmental impact on Long Island's children, healthy cooking and eating, going green without spending more green, green energy transportation, and more. Special guests include: John Gilmore, Executive Director of Autism United, Robert Catell, Chairman, U.S. National Grid, recording artist Jen Chapin, Chef Melody, the Life Style and Chef/Food Reporter for the Saturday Home Show with Jerry Leen, heard every weekend on WOR Radio 710AM, and John Basedow, author of Fitness Made Simple: The Power to Change Your Body and Life. Additionally, the Brentwood Fire Dept. will be conducting an on-site blood drive.

New this year, the event's official "E-Cycler", Arrow Scrap Corp., will be accepting tired computers and old computer components as you enter the Expo. This service will be available strictly for computers and computer components, not monitors or other post-consumer electronics. Cooking demos will educate and entertain all attendees. The Green Living Expo LI will help raise awareness for many earth-friendly non-profit organizations, including the Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, One World One Chance, One Is Greater Than None, and The Surfrider Foundation.
