Philly Craft Beer Festival Picks Local
Children's Hospital As Event Charity For Third Straight Year
Philadelphia, PA. January 26, 2009 - The Philly Craft Beer Festival organizers have selected, for the third year in a row, the Committee to Benefit the Children (C.B.C.) as the official event charity. The C.B.C. is a local, non-profit, volunteer based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and their families who face cancer, leukemia and serious blood disorders.
Since 2007, the Philly Craft Beer Festival organizers have donated more than $20,000 to help the C.B.C. continue their efforts supporting local families in need. "The money raised and presented to C.B.C. as a donation affords some very special children tremendous opportunities and resources they otherwise may not have," said Carleen A. Siegele, Executive Director, C.B.C.
Established in 1980, the C.B.C. has been serving patients and families who are treated at the Hematology-Oncology Division of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. All funds are earmarked for the psycho-social, non-medical needs desperately sought in the treatment of childhood cancers, sickle cell disease and life threatening blood disorders. "The C.B.C. does such great work to help families in the Philly area, we are happy to once again select them as the charity for our Philly Craft Beer Fest. I have never meet a more energetic or committed group of volunteers," said Andy Calimano, co-owner of Starfish Junction, one of the festival producers.
The 2009 Philly Craft Beer Fest will showcase local, national, and international breweries, more than 50 in all, including Blue Point Brewing Co. (NY), Stone (CA), Butternuts Beer & Ale (NY), Rock Art (VT), Thomas Hooker (CT), Southampton Ales & Lagers (NY), Gritty McDuff's (ME), Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery (NC), Voodoo Brewing Co. (PA), River Horse (NJ), Hoppin' Frog Brewery (OH), Yuengling (PA), Boulder Beer (CO), and Shmaltz Brewing Company (NY).
The 3rd annual Philly Craft Beer Festival (www.PhillyCraftBeerFest.com) will be held on March 7, 2009 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Two ticket options are available: Session 1: 12:30-4:30PM or Session 2: 6:00-10:00PM. Tickets are $45 per person and include a 6 oz. souvenir tasting glass with the freedom to enjoy 2 oz. samples from any exhibiting brewery. Designated driver tickets are available for $10. Everyone, including designated drivers, must be 21+ and present valid ID for admission.
Earlier this year, the Philly Craft Beer Festival received top honors when Forbes Traveler named it one of the "Top Ten Best Beer Festivals in America". The Philly Craft Beer Festival (www.PhillyCraftBeerFest.com) is produced by Starfish Junction Productions and TotalBru Marketing.
