Masonic Historical Society Hosts First-Ever Cask Beer Fest June 27
June 16, 2009 - Oyster Bay, NY - Thirteen of the country's finest craft brewers will gather at the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society in Oyster Bay on June 27, 2009 from 1:00-5:00pm to showcase their finest cask beer. Festival attendees will be able to try samples of the cask beer from the local, award winning breweries like Blue Point Brewing Company and Black Forest Brew Haus, plus breweries hailing from California, Pennsylvania, New York State, and Massachusetts. The event will be held at the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society located at 14 W. Main Street in Oyster Bay, NY. www.CraftBeerFestivals.com/Caskfest
"This will be one of the largest cask festivals on Long Island," said Andy Calimano, co-owner of Starfish Junction, the producer of the event. "Never before have these thirteen breweries come together, cask in tow, to showcase the artistry of cask-conditioned beer. Attendees at this event will be able to sample beer in its truest and purest form," added Calimano.
Cask ale, or cask beer, is the term used in the U.S. to refer to unfiltered and unpasteurized beer that is conditioned and served from a cask. Once the beer is tapped it is hand-pumped by a beer engine and is served slightly warmer than regular beer to allow for the beer's true flavor to surface.
The event will be held at the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society in Oyster Bay NY. The Cask Fest will help to raise funds for the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society. "As a member of the Matinecock Masonic Historical Society, I am very excited to be part of this first annual fundraising event," said Steve Beery, event sponsor and owner of Mr. Beery's.
Tickets are $40 for general admission and $10 for designated drivers. These tickets are available for purchase at www.CraftBeerFestivals.com/Caskfest.
