PHILADELPHIA, PA. October 15, 2009 - Cliveden, a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will host a special beer tasting event and fundraiser on December 5, 2009. The 2nd Annual Cliveden Winter Beer Festival will showcase a special selection of seasonal and limited-edition holiday craft beers from the nation's top craft breweries. It will also feature an impressive lineup of Christmas beers from international breweries. The Festival will take place on the historic and picturesque grounds of the Cliveden Museum-the scene of the 1777 Revolutionary Battle of Germantown. Cliveden is located at 6401 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144. www.Cliveden.org.
"Who says history has to be dry?" asks David W. Young, Executive Director of the Cliveden National Trust. "The Winter Beer Festival is a recent addition to Cliveden's menu of lively programs offered throughout the year. A special event like this is just one of the ways that Cliveden continues to serve the interests of the community, as it has since 1767. Funds raised from this event will help support a variety of Cliveden's education and community programs," added Mr. Young.
Craft brewers from around the country will join some of Philly's hometown favorites to make the day a fun event for all. A great lineup of special guests and speakers will educate and entertain attendees as part of the event programming. Included among the special events will be a demonstration of the brewing process led by the Cliveden Brewers Club.
The Cliveden Winter Beer Festival has two ticket options. VIP Admission (1:00-5:30pm, $65, online advance purchase only) includes a special one hour private session held inside the Cliveden Carriage House, where breweries will be pouring their most coveted limited-edition brews, a ticketed lunch, and admission to the general session.
