LIC's Water Taxi Beach To Host New York Craft Beer Week Special Event

Long Island City, NY. September 2, 2009 - New Yorkers are getting ready for New York Craft Beer Week and the Long Island City Craft Beer Festival, one of the special events kicking off a week-long celebration of beer and brewing. The Long Island City Craft Beer Festival is being held at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City on September 12, 2009, Water Taxi Beach is located at 2 Borden Ave. in Long Island City, easily accessible by subway, LIRR and, of course, water taxi.

More than twenty-five craft brewers will gather at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City to celebrate the end of summer and to kick off the week-long festivities of New York Craft Beer Week. The Long Island City Craft Beer Festival is "one of the kick-off events for the week-long celebration of craft beer and promises to be the largest single location event of the week," said event director, Josh Schaffner.

The festival will include a broad range of national craft beer industry leaders, including Dogfish Head, Thomas Hooker, Captain Lawrence Brewing Co., Sly Fox, Stoudts Brewing Co., Victory, Long Trail, Peak Organic, Southampton Ales & Lagers, Blue Moon, and Sam Adams. Attendees will also be able to sample extraordinary award-winning international craft beers from Unibroue (Canada), Belhaven (Scotland), Lefebvre (Belgium), Sapporo (Japan), and Bali Hai (Bali) and the newest hometown favorite, Fire Island Beer Co.

The Long Island City Craft Beer Fest will offer two ticketing options, an afternoon session (12:30-4pm) and an evening session (5:30-9pm). Tickets are $40 when purchased online, in advance, at or $50 at the door if tickets remain. A sell-out is expected as only 750 tickets per session are available for sale to the public. Tickets include a 6 oz. souvenir tasting glass with the freedom to enjoy 2 oz. samples from any exhibiting brewery. Food will be available for sale. Designated driver tickets are available for $10 each. No one under 21 is permitted and photo ID is required for entry. The event will take place rain or shine. Water Taxi Beach is located at 2 Borden Ave. in Long Island City. It is easily accessible from several pick up points in Manhattan via Water Taxi, as well as by subway and LIRR.
