Beer Fest in Wine Country! LI's North Fork Readies For Summer's Best Fest

JAMESPORT, NY. August 1, 2011 - A must for this summer's to-do list, the award-winning North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will return to Long Island's North Fork this August for what can only be described as the most talked-about and most anticipated event of the summer. Winner of the prestigious North Fork "Event of the Year" award, the 5th annual North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Martha Clara Vineyards in Jamesport, NY.

More than fifty world-class craft brewers will gather on the picturesque grounds of Martha Clara Vineyards to participate in the 2011 North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival. "Long Island wine country has led the way in developing awareness for locally made high quality wine. This beer festival will highlight Long Island's locally made beer," said Mark Burford, Brewmaster, Blue Point Brewing Company.

The festival will include a broad range of nationally recognized craft beer industry leaders as well as many of Long Island's award-winning hometown favorites. The event will feature wines for sampling from the Martha Clara Vineyards collection and other specially selected Long Island wineries. Gourmet barbeque food prepared by Maple Tree BBQ and live music from Mystery Play, one of Long Island's hottest cover bands, will add to the day's enjoyment. The event will help to raise funds for the national Beer for Brains Foundation as well as two local charities, the Kent Animal Shelter and the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.

This summer, The Boston Beer Company, the makers of Samuel Adams, will once again take two recipes on the road to be judged in a head-to-head consumer taste test and the North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will be one of the first stops. Ticket holders will be able to sample and vote for in the 2011 Beer Lover's Choice nationwide taste test: (SAMPLE A) Samuel AdamsĀ® Oaked Ale or (SAMPLE B) Samuel AdamsĀ® Maple Pecan Porter.

"Each year, we're amazed by how many drinkers across the country participate in the Beer Lover's Choice program," said Jim Koch, Samuel Adams founder and brewer. "The contest gives craft beer lovers an opportunity to enjoy new brews and broaden their palates."

Making their Long Island debut at the festival this year will be the Tommyknocker Brewery from Idaho Springs, Colorado. "It is great to be back on the east coast selling and drinking quality beer," said Dan Burns, Tommyknocker's Regional Sales Manager. "We can't wait to meet the local beer lovers at the festival and we are looking forward to a great partnership with our local distributor, Clare Rose." Also making their debut at the festival is McKenzie's Hard Cider from West Seneca, New York. "Hard ciders are a nice addition to our beer festivals, and McKenzie's hand-pressed hard cider is an amazing new product," said Joe Chierchie, Event Manager at Starfish Junction. "I think the attendees will really love McKenzie's."
