FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beer Expo Returns to Nassau Coliseum Nov. 12
With More than 75 Breweries from Across the Globe
UNIONDALE, NY. October 26, 2011 - The biggest names in international brewing are returning to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on Saturday, November 12, 2011 for the fourth annual Long Island International Great Beer Expo. This year's international beer tasting extravaganza will showcase more than 20 countries, more than 75 breweries, and more than 100 beers from across the globe.
Each country will provide samples of their country's proudest brewing achievement. Shoulder to shoulder with some of America's best breweries-including many Long Island favorites-will be amazing beer from Scotland, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, Canada, France, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Czech Republic, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Nicaragua, Mexico, and others.
Three new U.S. craft breweries will be making their debut at the Expo, two hailing from Long Island. Tommyknocker Brewery out of Colorado joins two new local Long Island breweries; Port Jeff Brewing Co. from downtown Port Jefferson and Spider Bite Brewery from Holbrook.
As the U.S. beer industry continues to battle for highly coveted market share with the wines and spirits category, the range of styles and flavors offered by the imports are attracting new fans and enthusiasts. "We want to help introduce Long Islanders to some great imports and this year will be our best Expo yet," said event producer Andy Calimano of Starfish Junction. "Long Island has grown as a craft beer powerhouse. Our local guys will be joined by some of the best breweries from around the world. Attendees at this year's Expo are in for an amazing experience," he added.
In addition to the beer tastings, attendees are invited to participate in some extraordinary educational programming held during the event. Three fun and informative programs are scheduled for each session of the Expo. The programming includes: "Beer & Cheese Pairing: Celebrating Vermont," sponsored by Long Trail Brewery and Cabot Creamery, hosted by Ron Kinnear (Long Trail Brewer) and Pete Mangouranes (The Good Life, Massapequa Park); "Highland Cask: The Newest Release from Scotland's Innis & Gunn Brewery," hosted by John Freeman, U.S. Sales Manager; and interested attendees can meet and greet a panel of industry pros as Lauri Spitz, leader of the Girls' Pint Out Long Island chapter, leads a discussion with her BFFs in a seminar titled, "Ladies of Craft Beer." Event programming is sponsored by www.LIBeerEvents.com.
