More Americans are quenching their thirst with hard cider than in the recent past. While cider sales in the U.S. are on the rise (reporting $448.8 million in retail sales last year-an increase of 23% from 2010 according to Euromonitor International), making and selling cider is anything but new. It is a once-sleepy alcohol category enjoying a remarkable renaissance driven by both breweries and wineries taking advantage of this fast-growing interest and appeal.
"A hard cider revival was long overdue," said Andy Calimano, co-owner of Starfish Junction.
