Cast of Broadway's COFFEE THE MUSICAL to Perform at 2012 Coffee And Tea Festival NYC

January 4, 2012 - New York, NY - Starfish Junction Productions, producer of the Coffee and Tea Festival NYC, announced last week that the upcoming 7th annual Coffee And Tea Festival being held in New York City on February 25 & 26, 2012 will host a special preview performance of the upcoming Broadway musical, Coffee: The Musical . The Festival will be held at 7W, 7 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001. The Coffee And Tea Festival is open to the public and the trade. its goal set firmly on landing on Broadway in the fall of 2012, the cast of Coffee: The Musical will join in the day's festivities by offering a special preview of the musical-an on-site cast reading and an intimate performance of the upcoming songs. A limited number of tickets will be available for sale to the general public. The event will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Tickets are available on a first-come, first serve basis and can be purchased as a stand-alone ticket for $25, a combo ticket which includes admission to the festival plus the special event is available in limited quantities for $35 (a $10 savings if purchased separately). "We are especially excited to be featuring the lead female vocalist of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jodi Katz, and the award winning music of composers Mike Ruekberg and Willie Wisely" said creator and head writer Robert Galinsky.

The Coffee and Tea Festival will also host The United States Barista Championship, a regional and national competition designed to highlight the craft of the barista and espresso-based beverage production. In a 15 minute presentation, competitors will prepare and serve three courses of espresso based beverages to a panel of four sensory judges. Two technical judges will score competitors on procedures, consistency, cleanliness and other technical details. The top six from each regional event will be granted entry into the 2012 USBC.

The Coffee And Tea Festival has also partnered with the Specialty Tea Institute to offer the STI Certification courses for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Cupping on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th. Advance registration and material review is required for those interested in taking the STI certification courses.

As seen on the Food Network's hit show Unwrapped and selected as one of the 10 Best New York Events April 2009, by, "the Coffee And Tea Festival is a celebration of everything related to coffee and tea," said Lynda Calimano, Event Producer. "We're especially delighted this year that our event was selected to host the U.S. Barista Championship. Attendees are in for a real treat," she added.
