Samuel Adams Picks Beer Expo at Belmont Park Racetrack As Kick-Off of New Rebel IPA
ELMONT, NY. October 29, 2013 - Award-winning event producer Starfish Junction, confirmed today that the Long Island 2013 International Great Beer Expo will include the launch of the new Rebel IPA from Samuel Adams. Jim Koch, owner of the Boston Beer Company and makers of Samuel Adams, told Brewbound, "we have been making IPAs for a long time but never really done a straight ahead, West Coast IPA, which is what everyone else has been doing." The Rebel IPA will join over 100 beers at the 6th annual International Great Beer Expo being held at Belmont Park Racetrack on November 9, 2013. The racetrack at Belmont Park is located at 2150 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, NY 11003. A limited number of tickets remain for sale at www.GreatBeerExpo.com.
"Very limited markets in the U.S. currently have the new Rebel IPA, more markets will be added in 2014," said Jonathan Galeno, Sr. Brewery Representative at the Boston Beer Company. "The Belmont expo marks the first time the Rebel IPA will be sampled on Long Island. We're excited to introduce the attendees to this new beer and to see their reaction to our latest recipe," added Galeno.
This year's international beer tasting extravaganza will showcase breweries from more than twenty countries, each providing samples of their country's proudest brewing achievements. Shoulder to shoulder with some of America's best breweries-including many Long Island favorites-will be amazing beer from Scotland, England, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Czech Republic, China, Japan, Mexico, and others.
In addition to the beer tastings, attendees are invited to participate in some entertaining and educational programming held during the event. Beer Around the World, a tutored tasting celebrating the beers of Germany, France, Lebanon, United States, and Scotland is sponsored by St. Killian Imports. Special guests for this program include Audrey Saint Leger, National Brand Ambassador for Pietra and Jenlain breweries (France); Ibrahim Saidi, Managing Partner at 961 Brewery (Lebanon); Michael Fairbrother, Head Mead Maker at Moonlight Meadery (New Hampshire); and Lars Dahlhaus, Specialty Brand Manager at St. Killian Import,s who will speak about the beers from the German breweries Lamsbrau and Wuerzburger.
The International Great Beer Expo (www.GreatBeerExpo.com) will have two sessions: 12:30-4:00pm and 5:30-9:00pm. A limited number of tickets will be sold. Once the event sells out, no additional tickets will be available for purchase. Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at the event website www.GreatBeerExpo.com/nassau. General Admission tickets include admission to the Expo, participation in special programming, a souvenir tasting glass, the freedom to enjoy a 2 oz. sample of any of the beers present at the Expo, and free parking. Food will be available for sale at racetrack concession counters. Designated driver tickets are also available for $12 each.
