Frecon's Cidery Announces Music and Cider Line-up for Annual Wassail
April 20, 2016 (Boyertown, PA) Today, Pennsylvania local hard cider producer, Frecon's Cidery, and event producer, Starfish Junction Productions, announced the live music and hard cider line-up for this year's Wassail. This American event inspired by English tradition will be taking place on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 12:00pm - 6:00pm in the Frecon Farms orchard in Boyertown, Pennsylvania.
"We are very excited about this year's musicians and ciders," said Hank Frecon, President of Frecon's Cidery. "This year's musical acts feature music of many genres including bluegrass, jazz, blues, and funk, among others; and, similarly, the line-up of cider will cover many styles such as New World, English, New England, applewine, cyser and more!"
Wassail will be held outdoors with a stage, made from a Frecon farm truck, placed squarely in the orchard for spectators to enjoy the performances from. The event producers highly encourage attendees to bring blankets and chairs for use in the lawn to jam from. Additional seating and shade will be available under a tent.
The Cider House Blues Band will be the first to take the stage at 12:30pm playing you jazz and blues favorites. The Manatawny Creek Ramblers (MCR) will then play traditional bluegrass starting at 2:15pm. MCR has built a mixed repertoire of classic bluegrass tunes by the likes of Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Del McCoury and Flatt & Scruggs as well as an array of original material. The event will conclude with the six-piece band, Lazy Afternoon, taking the stage at 4:00pm to bring you jazz and funk in an all out jam band session.
The ciders slated to be available include the five "everyday ciders" of the Frecon's Cidery portfolio such as the Crabby Granny, Early Man, and Hogshead, which are all being freshly released from the 2015 apple crop, and batches of Brix and Hoppy Mon held just for Wassail. Plus, the cider producer has stashed away some special releases and estate ciders that include the Apfelwein, 2013's Farmhouse Sour, and 2014's Waes Hael - the cider that honors the event in a traditional English way. Frecon's Cidery will also have their famous Cojito cocktails.
"This year's Wassail is going to be the best yet with the largest line-up of ciders the festival has had in its three year history," stated Kristyn Dolan, Event Manager of Starfish Junction Productions. "We're thrilled to see Frecon's Cidery's growth over the past three years and look forward to celebrating it among the apple blossoms in the orchard. It will be a truly great toast to the health of the apple harvest and cider to come!"
The Wassail event takes place on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 12:00pm-6:00pm in Boyertown, PA. General admission is $10 (all attendees over the age of 16 must have a ticket). There is a special offer available online only for those who are 21 and over which includes admission to the event along with a souvenir glass and two drink tickets for $20 - limited quantities remain.
