Hard Cider Festival to Feature Apple Cider Donut Eating Contest
Contest to take place at annual Pour The Core: Hard Cider Festival on October 22, 2016 at Royale Boston
(BOSTON, MA. September 12, 2016) - The 2nd Annual Pour the Core: Hard Cider Festival will be returning to Boston - this year with new cider producers and what will surely be a contest to remember! The festival will be held on October 22, 2016 in two sessions: 1) 12:00pm to 3:30pm and 2) 5:00pm-8:30pm at Royale located at 279 Tremont Street in Boston, MA. Attendees will enjoy refreshing and delicious samples from local, national and international cider producers, more than 75 ciders in all! Pour the Core will proudly showcase locally made ciders such as Downeast Cider House (Boston), Bantam Cider (Cambridge), Far From the Tree Cider (Salem) and Lookout Farm Hard Cider (South Natick) among them. Tickets for the event are on sale now at PourTheCore.com/Boston.
Twenty Pour The Core ticketholders will have the opportunity to compete and show-off their donut eating skills, but only one contestant per session will earn bragging rights and win a $150 gift card furnished by Hard Cider News and Starfish Junction, producers of the Pour The Core event. Ticketholders can register to become a contestant on the event website, PourTheCore.com, or sign-up at the event if competitor slots remain. The contest is limited to the first 10 people who register, per session; a waitlist will be made. All contestants will receive one apple cider donut baked with Angry Orchard Hard Cider, sponsor of the contest. The donut will be hung from a string that hangs in the air. Contest will be timed and the winner will be the contestant who finishes their donut first without using their hands. “We’re super excited to bring this new contest element to the cider festival,” said Event Manager Kristyn Dolan. “The apple cider donut eating contest is fun to do and fun to watch...and another way to showcase the star of the show, the beloved apple.”
The event is sure to impress both cider lovers and fun seekers alike. The event will offer a unique line-up of ciders to sample, food available to purchase from local city vendors, and several seminars on America’s historic beverage. Award-winning Strongbow (England) will have a DJ spinning top hits from the stage, and Woodchuck (Vermont) will be offering some amazing new ciders as they celebrate their 25th anniversary with the attendees.
Pour The Core: Boston has selected The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with insulin-dependent diabetes through education, recreation and support programs which inspire and empower, as its charity partner this year. Attendees are encouraged to participate in an on-site raffle and fun activities like jumbo connect and giant tumbling tower to help the organization fundraise. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will also go towards the organization’s wonderful work.
Two sessions of Pour the Core will be held, 12:00pm-3:30pm (afternoon session) and 5:00pm-8:30pm (evening session), on October 22, 2016 at Royale in Boston. Tickets ($45 GA) are on sale now and can be purchased at PourTheCore.com/Boston.
