Hard Cider Festival Moves to Heckscher State Park for its 6th Annual Event
August 16, 2017 – East Islip, NY. The 6th Annual Pour the Core: Hard Cider Festival will be held at a new location, Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. This new, more central location will not only allow for an easier commute for more attendees, but ample parking and a larger space to hold the festival. Attendees will be able to sample 100+ types of ciders from local, national and international cider makers. The festival will be held on September 30, 2017 from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. A major highlight of the hard cider festival is the Cider Donut Eating Contest. Twenty-five festival attendees will test their donut eating skills for a prize package valued over $500, plus bragging rights until the next Pour the Core: Long Island. Ticketholders are able to register in advance on the event website, PourTheCore.com, or sign-up at the event if space remains. Contestants will receive a locally baked cider donut, which will be hung from a string. The contestant who eats their donut fastest without using their hands will be declared the winner. “The donut eating contest is always a huge hit. It’s a great way to get the attendees involved!” said Event Manager Kristyn Dolan.
Pour the Core: Long Island benefits KiDS NEED MoRE, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children, families and young adults coping with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the organization.This festival will feature a wide array of ciders, as well as delicious food from some of Long Island’s most popular food trucks. Pour the Core will be held on September 30, 2017 from 12:30 pm -4:00 pm at Heckscher State Park (Field 2) in East Islip, NY. Tickets ($45 GA) are on sale now at PourTheCore.com/LongIsland. Tickets include a five ounce souvenir tasting cup, sponsored by Woodchuck Hard Cider, and the freedom to enjoy two ounce tastings from any participating cider producer. This event is sponsored in part by Strongbow Hard Ciders, Citizen Cider and Hard Cider News. Designated driver tickets are available for purchase for $12 each. This is a 21+ event and a valid ID is required for entry. No children or pets are permitted. This event will take place rain or shine, under tents. All ticket sales are final.
