Brooklyn Prepares for Caffeine-Filled Weekend in March

Coffee & Tea Festival NYC Comes to Brooklyn Expo Center on March 18-19, 2017

February 22, 2017 – Brooklyn, NY - Starfish Junction Productions announced that the 12th annual Coffee & Tea Festival New York City will be returning to the Brooklyn Expo Center located at 72 Noble Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222 on March 18-19, 2017. The festival, which is open to the public and trade, will include over 80 exhibitors and an impressive line-up of seminars; not to mention, the debut of a Coffee & Tea Cocktail Lounge sure to please adult taste buds with special creations!

The new Coffee & Tea Festival’s Cocktail Lounge will feature libations crafted from coffee and tea of exhibitors from the show (and those who could not make it) and carefully selected spirits to enhance flavor and aroma. Attendees (21+ only) will have the opportunity to sample select concoctions and purchase one if it suits their fancy.

“Cocktails created with coffee and teas have long been found on menus in bars and restaurants across the country as part of dessert but innovation has been on the rise with these two buzzing beverages finding their way in beers, ciders and more for any-time drinking,” explained Kristyn Dolan, Director of Event Production & Sales at Starfish Junction which produces the Coffee & Tea Festival NYC. “By debuting the Coffee & Tea Cocktail Lounge at the event, we are giving 21+ attendees the opportunity to explore the world of coffee and tea even further.”

The Coffee & Tea Cocktail Lounge will be open on both days of the festival, Saturday, March 18, 2017 and Sunday, March 19, 2017. Attendees with proper photo identification and over the age of 21 will have the ability to taste select beverages showcased as part of their ticket to the event. Event tickets also provide access to tastings from any participating coffee and tea exhibitor and attendance to free festival seminars covering topics such as how to appraise Chinese tea, understanding mushroom coffee, five teas that brewed a revolution and how coffee is decaffeinated. Special seminars and pairings will also take place throughout the two-day event for an additional participation fee. These seminars provide more in-depth knowledge and are hands-on for participants. Such special seminars include: Canadian award-winning author and international tea taster Kevin Gascoyne leading a pairing of scotch and tea discussing the parallel world of terroir and technique, a Chemex brew method master class for you to hone your at-home manual coffee making with Café Grumpy, a comparative tasting of Wuyi Rock oolong teas from the Wuyi Mountains of China with General Manager and Tea Taster Rie Tulali, and more.

For attendees looking to get into the tea business or those in the food and beverage industry looking to continue their education and/or add tea to their offerings, producer Gail Gastelu will be offering Tea Course Fast Track, a half-day seminar teaching participants about camellia sinensis, the tea experience, tea uses and health benefits, and much more. The four-hour course is $245 and includes VIP admission to the Coffee & Tea Festival NYC on both days of the festival, an exclusive gift bag, a tea cupping set and a flash drive full of additional readings, resources, eBooks, and special offers.

Doors open to the general public at 12pm and close at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. General admission tickets are on sale now at the event website, for $25++. VIP tickets are also available for $35++ and give the ticketholder an extra two hours in the event from 10AM-12PM; plus, an exclusive gift bag. “Rush Hour” tickets will also be available on Saturday only for admission from 3PM-5PM for $10.
