Iced Tea and Cold Brew Cool Down Hot New Yorkers in Brooklyn
Coffee & Tea Festival NYC Iced Continues National Iced Tea Day Celebration on June 11th
May 25, 2017 (Brooklyn, NY). Starfish Junction Productions, producer of the popular Coffee & Tea Festival NYC, is getting ready to refresh the Brooklyn residents with the, first of its kind, Coffee & Tea Festival NYC Iced. This festival of iced beverages focusing on coffee and tea will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint. This family-friendly event will provide attendees the opportunity to taste best-selling, hand-crafted, and locally-made products from more than 40 exhibitors. Ticket are on sale at CoffeeAndTeaFestival.com/NYCIced.
The Coffee & Tea Festival NYC Iced is modeled after the successful Coffee & Tea Festival series of events which have been running annually since 2006. “The Coffee & Tea Festival has been a wonderful celebration of everything related to coffee and tea but, with approximately 85% of the tea consumed in America being iced, this event is a natural extension of what we do; it only makes sense to give consumers an event that focuses specifically on what they love and introduces them to the expansive world of iced tea,” explained Kristyn Dolan, Director of Event Production at Starfish Junction which produces the Coffee & Tea Festival. “We selected the date of June 11th to also continue National Iced Tea Day celebrations from the day before.”
Ticketholders can expect to see matcha based green tea drinks from teapigs, ready-to-drink bottles from Teavana, iced tea on draft from Subtle Tea, tea concentrate from Owl’s Brew, fermented tea from Health-Ade Kombucha, sparkling tea from Sound, and antioxidant infused tea from Bai, amongst others. However, the show is only 50% focused on tea. Cold brew coffee has seen incredible growth this past year that coffee enthusiasts might even argue it is the ‘summertime beverage of choice.’ Research from Mintel states that the US cold brew sub-segment grew 580% from 2011-2016, with cold brew sales in 2016 providing to be cold brews’ strongest year yet at retail.
Some coffee-focused exhibitors at the Coffee & Tea Festival NYC Iced include Café Grumpy with their cold brew concentrate, Wandering Bear with boxed cold brew, Rise Brewing with nitro cold brew on draft, illy with ready-to-drink cappuccinos and lattes, biodynamic coffee from Deep Valley, plus others – all sure to ‘chill’ tastebuds this summer.
Like the hot version of the Coffee & Tea Festival, the event will feature free festival seminars where attendees can learn about “Ceylon Tea and the Beautiful ‘Tea Island’ of Sri Lanka” from Gail Gastelu of the Tea House Times and “Iced Coffee the Italian Way” from Francine Segan, Italian food expert and author of Dolci: Italy’s Sweets. Contests focused on coffee/tea mixology and activities like coffee painting are all planned for a full-day of fun. Attendees won’t want to leave with Stuf’d and Dub Pies, two of New York City’s finest food trucks, on-site with food available to purchase.
Tickets, which include sampling, a souvenir cup to the first 1,000 attendees, and participation in seminars, contests and activities, can be purchased online for $20 at the festival website: CoffeeAndTeaFestival.com/NYCIced. The event will take place rain or shine on June 11, 2017 from 11AM-4PM at the Brooklyn Expo Center located at 72 Noble Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid being sold-out.
