TEAPOT RACING!
Coffee & Tea Festival: Sampling, Education & Entertainment, Dec. 14-15

December 4, 2019 (Oaks, PA). – The 7th Annual Coffee and Tea Festival returns to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA on on Saturday, December 14, 2019 and Sunday, December 15, 2019 for what promises to the be best fest yet—offering unlimited coffee and tea samples, Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration, Teapot Racing, and much more.

New this year: Teapot Racing! What is Teapot Racing? It’s a popular contest in the steampunk community in which contestants race vehicles that consist of a teapot, mounted upon a radio-controlled chassis. Contestants most commonly use hobby or toy shop radio-controlled cars for the base vehicle and then modify, decorate, or accessorize as they wish. Racing takes place on a pre-designed course. For the very first time at the Coffee & Tea Festival, a Teapot Racing Course will be set-up for attendees to learn about teapot racing and see racers in action. There will be several loaner racing vehicles for attendees to try or attendees can bring their own to race.

The event’s seminar schedule includes a variety of educational and entertaining programs, including topics as varied as the fundamentals of tea & tea tasting; the science behind brewing coffee with a siphon; understanding lapsang souchong tea; and discovering and understanding purple tea. Plus, new this year, Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration from the Uraskenke Philadelphia a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to supporting and promoting awareness of Japanese tea ceremony (chado or chanoyu in Japanese) in Philadelphia and the surrounding region.

More than 3,000 caffeine-starved attendees are expected to pack the Expo Center to sample coffees and teas from around the world. The first 500 ticketholders through the door each day receive a Coffee and Tea Festival tote filled with goodies to take home and enjoy. Parking is free. .

Tickets ($20 per day) include admission to the event, access to special programs, and unlimited tastings from exhibitors. The festival is open from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, December 14th, and from 10:00am-4:00pm on Sunday, December 15th. Children 12 and under do not need a ticket to attend the festival, do not receive a tote, are not permitted in program area, and must be supervised at all times.
