Fizzy, Fun, & Fabulous New Boozy Event Launches at The Navy Yard, May 30
PHILADELPHIA, PA. February 5, 2020 – Starfish Junction, producers of award-winning craft beer and hard cider festivals in Philadelphia and around the Northeast, today officially announces their newest project. SPIKED, a festival created to serve the skyrocketing interest in hard seltzers and other hard beverages like coffee, tea, and soda, will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA. SPIKED is expected to draw record crowds and garner unprecedented support from the major players in the industry who are looking to secure their footprint in the ever-evolving market. Sales of spiked canned beverages have really boomed over the last few years and the tidal wave is showing no signs of receding. Many companies are bringing new products to market and others, including existing category leaders, are expanding their product lines and distribution. Think White Claw, Truly, and Bon & Viv. Think fizzy. Think boozy. Think triple-digit growth in sales across the country.
According to MarketWatch Mag, beverage alcohol seltzer dollar sales jumped 169% to approximately $488 million on a 181% volume gain ... [and] the highly publicized segment clearly carried the momentum into 2019, with triple-digit gains being recorded again this year.
“Following in the exponential growth seen with a variety of spiked beverages, hard seltzers are starting to emerge from the most unlikely of places, including craft breweries who are trying to answer the demands of this captivated market,” said Kristen Sarcone, spearheading the launch of the new SPIKED festival for event producer Starfish Junction.
“Hard seltzers are far from a fad, they’re growing at a spectacular rate, and increasingly, hard seltzer producers are pulling consumers from other beverage alcohol categories, not just beer,” IWSR chief operating officer Brandy Rand said via a press release. Hard seltzers have converted beer, wine, and vodka drinkers, both men and women, and “we will be launching SPIKED this summer to satisfy the curiosities and tastes of the people of Philadelphia,” added Sarcone.
SPIKED will showcase more than 50 local and national companies who will join in on this premiere tasting event. “Hard seltzers did all the hard work, opening the market and the minds of consumers to do some exploring,” said Sarcone. SPIKED will include hard seltzers as well as hard sodas, hard coffees and teas, hard kombuchas, and a variety of alternative beverages like mead, cider and canned cocktails. Philly’s most popular food trucks will be on-site offering a variety of tasty street food for sale. Live entertainment, backyard games, and brand-driven activations will surely be a hit with attendees looking for Insta-worthy photos.
SPIKED will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 1:30-5:00pm on the Marine Parade Grounds in The Navy Yard (4747 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19112). Tickets are on sale now. Tickets ($50pp plus applicable taxes/fees) include all tasting and entertainment. Designated Driver tickets are also available ($12pp plus applicable taxes/fees) and do not permit any sampling at the event.
