Drive-In Movies Back at Smith Haven Mall
Based on Popular Demand DRIVE-IN MOVIE SERIES Continues for Fall

LAKE GROVE, NY. September 2, 2020   – Based on a successful summer season, Long Island event producer Starfish Junction just announced the latest lineup in their pop-up drive-in movie series for the September 11th– September 12th weekend at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, NY. The upcoming schedule includes family-friendly films and a fright-night blockbuster sure to entertain.  Information on the schedule, safety guidelines, show times and ticket availability, is available at www.MovieLotDriveIn.com. This weekend’s community sponsor is Ronald McDonald House

MOVIE LOT, a pop-up drive-in movie experience, has entertained over 4,000 cars since it launched in May and has officially announced that “based on the success of the summer movie series, we are continuing the drive-in movie series through the fall,” said Lauren Powers, Senior Director at Starfish Junction .  The much-anticipated list for the next round of movies, shown on the giant 52-foot screen erected in the parking lot of the Smith Haven Mall, includes:

• 9/11:  Star Wars:  A New Hope (8:00pm; Rated PG)
• 9/12:  Trolls World Tour (8:00pm; Rated PG)
• 9/12:  Steven King’s IT (11:00pm; Rated R, 2017)

“We’re working on a fantastic lineup for fall. We’ve had such a positive response to the summer series that we decided to extend the drive-in movies into the fall season.  We’ve got some awesome movies coming for the next few weeks and we’re currently finalizing plans for a Halloween spooktacular weekend, with movies sure to appeal to both kids and adults,” added Powers.

Lake Grove was among the first Long Island towns to offer post-quarantine entertainment for local residents.  With sold-out showings, MOVIE LOT’s success confirmed that Long Islanders were ready for a fun and safe way to embrace the lack of entertainment options as shelter-in-place restrictions loosened.

While drive-in theaters have been staging a comeback across the country, Starfish Junction has positioned itself as one of the leaders here on Long Island, owning the biggest pop-up drive-in screen, 52-feet, available locally.   Future showings will include movies perfect for date nights, family fun nights, girl’s night out, sing-alongs, and classic films.   There are a limited number of tickets available for each showing.  Tickets are on sale now ($40 per carload for early shows, $30 per carload for late night shows) and must be purchased online in advance at the MOVIE LOT website to adhere to the promise of contactless processing.

Ticketholders are permitted to bring their own food and snacks to enjoy during the show.  Attendees may also consider Smith Haven Mall restaurants for curbside pick up before filing into the lot for the movie.  Portable restrooms will be available for use.  The Smith Haven Mall is located in Lake Grove, NY.  The showings will take place rain or shine, all ticket sales are final.  Tickets and info at www.MovieLotDriveIn.com.

Movie Lot Drive-In is supported locally by great media partners including WBABWBLINews12Newsday and others.  The September 11-12, 2020 weekend community sponsor is Ronald McDonald House who will use this weekend to raise funds and awareness for this important charity.  The event is produced by Starfish Junction.
